One of the UK’s top banks has revealed plans to cut over 1000 jobs as part of a company restructure. The job losses would be mainly in the retail, commercial and operations areas of the business. Previously they had announced planned job cuts of up to 15,000 and with this latest batch, the current number of losses has reached over 11,000.

These changes have been vital for the bank to continue. The company has seen a major restructure and, although they have had to cut a number of jobs, they also plan to create nearly 100 new job opportunities. The company is planning to place staff in other areas of the business if they agree, as opposed to getting rid of them full stop.

Staff at the bank are disappointed with the news of further job cuts. With bank branches in most towns, including many in the Sussex area, from Brighton, Worthing, Crawley, right through to Chichester, many employees face an uncertain future at one of Britain’s biggest banks.
