About Us
At Home Farm, we pride ourselves on our diverse, sustainable farming practices, which span across beef cattle, pigs, sheep, arable, and even a farm shop. We’re looking for a Senior Stock Person to be a vital part of our team and help manage the day-to-day care of our livestock while supporting other key operations on the farm. What You’ll Do
As Senior Stock Person, you’ll work closely with the Farm Foreman to oversee the management of our beef cattle and other livestock. Your role will include:
Beef Cattle Care: Responsible for the day-to-day care of the suckler herd, including checking, feeding, and bedding the cattle.
Livestock Duties: Provide relief livestock duties, covering alternate weekends and holiday periods.
Machinery Operation: Operate farm machinery, including tractors, telehandlers, and TMR mixer wagons, for various tasks including feeding and seasonal work.
Assist with Other Enterprises: Help with a range of other farm operations as needed, including work with pigs, sheep, arable crops, and farm shop activities.
Grassland Management: Use good grazing techniques such as rotational grazing and mob grazing to ensure the health of pastures and maximize productivity.
Animal Selection & Breeding: Work alongside the Farm Foreman on animal selection and breeding for the suckler herd.
Calving Support: Be on-site for suckler herd calving and assist when necessary.
Health & Records: Administer medicines, maintain health records, and ensure all livestock are cared for according to farm standards.
Farm Operations: Assist with arable tasks such as rolling, cultivating, and carting crops.
Meet KPIs: Work toward key performance indicators (KPIs) set by the Farm Manager to ensure the farm is running efficiently.
What We’re Looking For
We’re looking for someone with the following qualifications and experience:
Proven experience in animal husbandry, particularly with cattle.
Agricultural qualification is preferable, but practical experience is just as valuable.
Machinery experience, including operating a telehandler and feeder wagon. A telehandler certificate is required.
Ability to manage your time effectively, ensuring all tasks are completed in a timely and efficient manner.
Team player with a strong work ethic and a positive attitude.
Full, clean driving license is essential.
Confidence to work independently while also being part of a team.
