Fernhurst Primary School is set in spacious grounds in the heart of the West Sussex countryside, where pupils have a strong sense of community with a set of shared values which underpin the life of the school and drive the curriculum. The dedicated team of staff and Governors strive to create an environment in which every child is a happy and successful learner. The school, which was rated as "Good" by Ofsted provides a rich curriculum, enhanced by Forest School and opportunities to engage in sport, music and drama and to participate in village life.

We have an opportunity for a first class Teaching Assistant to provide cover to the end of the academic year, contributing to the pupils'' development including their physical and mental well-being in supporting the teaching and learning in the class room, providing general and specific assistance to pupils, under the direction and guidance of the Class Teacher.

With an understanding of effective strategies that underpin positive behaviour in a primary school, and strong communication and interpersonal skills that encourage sustained learning and progress, you will support pupils appropriately and effectively, leading to their independent learning and increased self-reliance and self-esteem. You will need to be positive and approachable, with patience and the presence to inspire confidence and trust, combined with an enthusiasm to see children progress and develop.
