Job description
Are you a skilled and reliable Maintenance Operative who takes pride in delivering high-quality work? Do you want a role where your skills make a genuine difference to the lives of children and young people?
At My Choice Children's Homes, we provide nurturing, therapeutic homes for children and young people who have experienced trauma and adversity. Our homes should feel safe, welcoming and well cared for, and our Maintenance Operatives play a vital role in achieving this.
We are looking for a proactive and dependable Maintenance Operative to support the upkeep, repair and maintenance of our children's homes, school and office sites across Surrey and Sussex.
Working as part of our Operations Team, you will ensure that our homes remain safe, compliant and maintained to a high standard. No two days are the same, and you'll use your practical skills to carry out a wide variety of maintenance tasks while responding promptly to repairs and supporting planned improvement works.
We're looking for someone who is practical, organised and enjoys solving problems. You will have excellent attention to detail and understand the importance of providing safe environments for vulnerable children and young people.
You will ideally have:
- Experience in a general maintenance, facilities or property maintenance role.
- Good all-round practical skills including basic plumbing, carpentry, decorating and repairs.
- Knowledge of health and safety legislation and safe working practices.
- The ability to work independently and prioritise a varied workload.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- A positive, flexible and can-do attitude.
- A full UK driving licence.
- The ability to travel regularly between our homes across Surrey and Sussex.
Experience within residential childcare, education, healthcare or social care settings would be advantageous but is not essential.
At My Choice Children's Homes, safeguarding is everyone's responsibility. This role requires an enhanced DBS check, satisfactory references and compliance with safer recruitment practices. The successful candidate will share our commitment to protecting and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
Applications are invited by CV, if you're application is successful, we will need you to complete an application form for vetting purposes etc.
