This post provides an opportunity for a radiotherapy physics technologist or radiographer, with experience in treatment planning, to undertake a senior role in the treatment planning service at Portsmouth, with opportunities to support clinical trials and associated developments, and play a key role in the training of other staff. Our Radiotherapy Physics team of 19 staff are now located at the redeveloped Queen Alexandra Hospital, which was completed last summer. The new radiotherapy department has been re-equipped with 4 new Varian linacs with IMRT, cone-beam IGRT and 4D gating capabilities, a new Toshiba wide-bore CT scanner, and a new IBt Bebig HDR brachytherapy unit. PET-CT is about to be commissioned in the Trust.Operating at the highest levels of competence in treatment planning, you must have a science degree or radiography qualification and have comprehensive treatment planning experience. If you do not already possess an MSc, funding for appropriate study is available. Portsmouth is a historic seaside city with mild sunny climate, miles of beaches, many cultural, sporting and leisure amenities. The city has excellent road and rail link to London, ferry to the continent, and nearby international airport.
