PURPOSE OF THE JOB:

To be responsible for ensuring that empty council properties are let efficiently and within set target times. To co-ordinate the viewing of empty properties with one or more applicants, ensuring health & safety procedures are followed, co-ordinating the work of other sections, working closely with the line manager and other colleagues, ensuring daily tasks are carried out and targets are met.

Once an applicant accepts a property, the legal paperwork is completed and advice is given on the terms and conditions of their Tenancy Agreement. Throughout the viewing, sign up and new tenancy visit process officers will assess if a tenant might need additional support and make referrals as appropriate e.g. to the Tenancy Sustainment Team. This works really well and ensures that tenants get as much support as possible right at the start.

The Re-housing Team also undertake a post tenancy check within the first 14 days of the tenancy starting to ensure there are no outstanding issues.

In addition to re-letting empty properties, the teams other main area of work is facilitating requests for tenants to swap properties by way of Mutual Exchange.

We welcome applications from all sections of the community but particularly encourage BAME, disabled, LGB, male and trans applicants as these groups are currently under-represented in our directorate workforce.
