Assistant Housing Options Officer – 33 hours per week (fixed term contract until 31st March 2019)

Scale 5 - £20,661 to £22,658 per annum, pro rata

The post is also available as a secondment opportunity for internal applicants, with the agreement of the current manager.

The Housing Options team is a busy front-line service aiming to prevent homelessness by delivering timely housing advice to clients, liaising and negotiating with landlords and other agencies. The ideal applicant would be dynamic, able to think outside the box, and have the ability to work in a busy pressured environment.

The Assistant Housing Options Officer supports the Housing Options Officers to prevent homelessness and provide housing advice to clients and to landlords, both by phone and in person at the Civic Centre. The role also involves booking emergency guest house accommodation, dealing with payment of invoices, ensuring Housing Benefit claims are processed for clients in B&B, and recording & generating statistical information.

The role includes participation in the emergency out-of-hours phone advice service. 

The applicants should be able to deal with demanding situations in a professional manner, paying attention to detail and prioritising workloads. Experience of working in a housing environment would be an advantage.
