Salary £20,456 to £24,717 per annum (Grades 6 & 7) including weekend working allowance.
(Grade 6-7 is for candidates who are already qualified)
Sleeping in: You are required to sleep-in at the home when on duty for which you are paid a separate allowance of £34.34 per sleep in. This can equate to over £3,500pa in addition to your salary.

May House is a purpose built three bed unit for young people with severe learning disabilities and challenging behaviour. They are also likely to be on the autistic spectrum. Young people will be referred to May House following risk of placement breakdown in the community. They typically stay at May House for up to 18 months, where the multidisciplinary team offer a comprehensive package of care and work intensively to enable the young person to return to other community resources and their families.
As a Child Care Officer you will support young people to engage in a full range of activities, both in May House and in the community.
You will –
• Have already achieved the Level 3 Diploma for Children and Young People’s Workforce or
equivalent.
• be able to assist colleagues to maintain a nurturing, positive and safe environment for the young
people in our care.
• be alert to the needs of the young people in our care and mindful of their safety.
• be required to work on a rota basis.
• be required to work every alternate weekend.
• be able to write reports and make daily notes.
Sleeping in on call is an essential task.
Experience of working with young people with disability issues will be a distinct advantage.
These are career graded posts. Grade at appointment will be based on individual experience and qualifications.
