Are you passionate about the rights of the most vulnerable adults in our society? WSCC is looking for a Senior Social Work Practitioner for its dedicated and well established Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards Team. Due to case law changes the work of the team has expanded. WSCC is looking for somebody with an excellent understanding of the Mental Capacity Act and Dols, good management skills, and an eye for detail. You must be a qualified Best Interests Assessor, or train as a BIA once appointed.

You will work as a Senior Social Work Practitioner within a team of Best Interests Assessors carrying out assessments under the Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards. You will be responsible with the team manager for overseeing a duty system triaging work coming into the team, prioritising and allocating work to team BIAs, and to duty BIAs who work on a rota basis for the team.

You will provide advice to a growing number of Best Interests Assessors carrying out complex Dols assessments, and also carry out more complex Dols assessments yourself. The post is in an area of work that is fast changing, so you will also be expected when necessary to provide training and advice to colleagues and other professionals on the Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards.
