There’s a real momentum at West Sussex County Council. We’re focused on creating more positive outcomes for children and their families and we have the optimism and enthusiasm to achieve it. We’ve already redesigned our service, transforming both our systems and the way we work. We’ve been inspired as one of only ten authorities involved in the Signs of Safety England Innovations Project. The Children’s Access Point (CAP) manage all referrals; give advice and support and make decisions about whether an intervention from a qualified social worker is required. They work closely with the Early Help Resource Centre including key partner agencies to ensure there is a co-ordinated and proactive approach to referrals The Emergency Duty Team (EDT) works alongside the CAP and provides an emergency social work service for urgent situations which arise out of normal office hours including situations of acute risk Passionate about making a difference, you will be responsible for the development of skills and experience in their workforce and managing activities within your operational area. Your role will be to strengthen professionalism so that Children’s Services not only do things ‘right’ but are also ‘doing the right thing’ to help a particular child. You will ensure that the service provides the professional expertise that meets the needs of children, young people and families. You should model confident risk management and ensure there is high quality supervision, and support.
