Passionate about making a difference, you will be responsible for motivating and leading a small group of social workers and other staff, providing expert supervision, mentoring /coaching and supporting the development of reflective and relationship based practice. You will need a full driving licence and access to a vehicle. We currently have vacancies in the following specialist areas within Fostering and Adoption: Practice Manager – Placement Finding Team – based in Worthing To manage a team of social workers and child and family workers receiving referrals from children’s social workers for all types of placements both in –house and external. The aim is to find suitable placements to meet children’s needs within the in-house fostering and residential services. If this is not possible the team then finds suitable placements in the independent sector. You will need to be competent to manage the need for both emergency placements along with planned placement moves providing advice about suitability and availability and focussing of placement support plans. Arranging and chairing Team Around the Placement (TAP) meetings and placement disruption meetings is also part of the role. Like other local authorities there is a priority to meet placement needs of children in- house and reduce the need for costly external placements. Part of the role will involve monitoring all out of county placements and planning to move children in-house where this will meet their needs. Practice Manager – Fostering South – based in Worthing To manage and supervise a team of 6 social workers supervising approx. 90 foster carers. To ensure quality of practice abased on Developmental Trauma and Attachment Theory. We are working to introduce both therapeutic re-parenting interventions and a Signs of Safety approach to the Fostering Service. Practice Manager – Special Guardianship and Connected Persons Assessment and Support Team – based in Horsham but covering all of West Sussex To manage and supervise a new team of 6 social workers providing Reg 24 assessments for the Fostering Panel and SGO assessments for court. You would become the subject matter expert on this area of practice and keep the need for permanence for children to the fore as well as producing support plans for the child and guardians in conjunction with the child’s social worker. The social workers provide support to SGOs until the order is made. The SGO Support Team continues to provide support post order.
