There’s a real momentum at West Sussex County Council. We’re focused on creating more positive outcomes for children and their families and we have the optimism and enthusiasm to achieve it. We’ve already redesigned our service, transforming both our systems and the way we work. We’ve been inspired as one of only ten authorities involved in the Signs of Safety England Innovations Project. Join us as a social worker, and you’ll be empowered. With experienced people around you and a leadership team backing you up, you’ll be in an environment in which you can focus on real social work and the child’s journey. We’re talking manageable caseloads and good access to administrative support and reflective supervision. Add excellent training including five guaranteed days of CPD per year, and it’s a winning formula. Passionate about making a difference, you will bring experience of delivering and implementing change within families, writing evidence-based reports and effectively supporting others. Your degree or equivalent qualification in social work will be matched by a flair for engaging with children, young people and families. Plus, as you will be travelling across the county, you will need a full driving licence and access to a vehicle. We are expanding our social work teams so now have vacancies across all 4 service areas: Assessment and Intervention – undertaking Child and Family Assessments, S.47 inquiries and intervention and planning for Children in Need Child in Need/Child Protection – working with longer term Children in Need and children subject to Child Protection plans Children Looked After - working with children to achieve and maintain permanence, including permanency and care planning, family proceedings and preparation for children leaving care Fostering, Adoption and Intervention - working with foster carers as a supervising social worker, undertaking assessments and providing support to adopters and others with Special Guardianship Orders, undertaking assessments and interventions within family proceedings.
