In 2012, Essex Cares won the contract to provide the Regaining Independence Service on behalf of West Sussex County Council. Regaining Independence is a programme of short-term care designed to give individuals the confidence to regain and maintain independence in their own homes. A range of full time and part time hours are available including mornings (7am to 11am), afternoons (4pm to 7pm), evenings (7pm to 11pm) and weekends. There will also be a requirement to take part in a stand-by rota for weekends. The Role: Our Regaining Independence Assistants provide care in our customers’ homes in a way which respects their dignity and encourages confidence. This can include a variety of tasks including: • Supporting with personal care and mobility • Medication Management • Meal preparation • Giving advice and guidance • Liaising with colleagues, family members and occupational therapists on a regular basis The Person: The successful Community Care / Support Assistants will have the following skills and experience: • The ability to understand the needs of our customers, build positive relationships, communicate clearly and effectively • Ability to follow policies and procedures in a regulated environment • Demonstrate empathy and have a positive outlook • Professional and committed to teamwork and delivering high standards of customer service Benefits: Support of a well-developed management team and organisational structure that will allow you to develop within your role • Hours to match individual needs • A range of free training, development and career enhancing opportunities • Free uniform and employment related checks including Disclosure and Barring Services • Contributory pension scheme • 23 days annual leave • Mileage paid at 45p per mile
