WORTH IDVA Services is the partnership countywide Independent Domestic Violence Advisor Service (IDVA) which is delivered by West Sussex County Council. The countywide team identify, assess and assist victims of domestic and sexual abuse in order to increase the safety of victims and their families. The IDVA will provide independent professional advice, information and support to victims of domestic and/or sexual abuse across the county. This includes responsibility for providing advocacy, information, emotional support and practical support with a responsibility for maintaining a focus on keeping the victims and their children safe. This will include participation in multi-agency meetings and forums, including the Multi Agency Risk Assessment Conference (MARAC) and supporting colleagues and partner agencies to provide the best possible service to victims. We are looking for someone with advanced theoretical, practical and procedural knowledge regarding the issues surrounding the impact of domestic/sexual abuse. This will include the civil and criminal justice remedies relating to domestic/sexual abuse. You will know and understand the functions of the relevant statutory and voluntary agencies, which may also be involved. Managing a high caseload, you will possess excellent crisis management skills and the ability to use your initiative in difficult and emotionally challenging circumstances. With experience of lone working you will also be self sufficient and self motivated and have excellent time management and prioritisation skills. With knowledge of child protection issues and legal responsibilities as well as knowledge of undertaking risk assessments and designing safety plans you will also have demonstrable experience of working in a multi-agency environment and will possess excellent interpersonal skills. You must be computer literate and demonstrate the ability to maintain appropriate and accurate records. A full UK Driving Licence is a requirement for the post.

27,123 - 29,558 per annum, plus a Crawley Allowance

Permanent  This post is based in Crawley but you will be required to travel across the County 37 hours per week, to include weekends. The service operates 7 days a week. Core hours are 9am-5pm.
