We are seeking to appoint an independent Chairperson to lead the newly created Pension Advisory Board as required by the Public Service Pension Act 2013. The Board will be established from 1 April 2015. The main responsibility of this role is to – • provide leadership and direction to the Pension Advisory Board and • to assist the County Council in securing compliance with the scheme regulations and legislation • ensure the effective and efficient governance and administration of the scheme This is an opportunity to be the leading role in a newly created body, setting its direction and using your leadership skills to ensure the Board effectively contributes to the governance of the Pension Fund. You will – • be a proven leader with skills of tact, diplomacy and communication • possess integrity, strategic vision and good/independent judgement • understanding of the legal responsibilities and liabilities of Pension Advisory Board members We would preferably like a Chairperson with a good knowledge of the local government pension scheme, prior experience of committee work and the ability to commit at least 1 day a month to this role. It is likely that the appointment will be made for a two year period initially.
