West Sussex County Councils Fostering and Adoption Teams Placement Support Team have a one year Temporary Social Work vacancy.

This Post is within our Special Guardianship Support Team (SGO). The SGO support team offer on-going support to Special Guardians to help to ensure that permanency is achieved and maintained. This support is provided through utilising skills such as mediation, time management, therapeutic interventions and life story work and through wider support pathways. The team also facilitate regular sessions/workshops to maintain relationships with carers and offer informal support. The role also helps to manage contact arrangements with members of the child’s family. The SGO support team also assist social work staff to formulate SGO support plans ahead of the order being made.

You will work as part of a small team which is connected to our larger Placement Support team. You will provide an accountable statutory social work service to those people who access or need the service to include assessment, planning and review. The post holder is expected to work within organisational, policy and legislative requirements.

You will be creative, flexible, have excellent communication skills, and enjoy working at a fast pace. You will be able to use IT, and will be organised and able to manage your workload and competing demands. With a child centred focus you will be competent in maintaining accurate records of all work undertaken, taking part in professional meetings and able to produce well evidenced, outcome focused assessments, plans and reports.

£26,539 - £28,922 per annum
