Healthwatch West Sussex is the newly established consumer champion for health and social care in West Sussex. It has been formed to deliver the Healthwatch service, working in partnership with Help & Care and the two West Sussex Citizens Advice Bureaux and supported by West Sussex County Council. We are delighted to invite expressions of interest for an Independent Director post to join the 3 existing independent Directors and the Chair on the Healthwatch Board. These posts will complement the Executive Director posts from Help & Care and the Citizens Advice Bureaux. They will guarantee the independence of Healthwatch West Sussex and provide assurance that the community’s interest is being served at all times by the company’s activity. At a local level, Healthwatch will work to help local people get the best out of their health and social care services, whether it’s improving them today or helping to shape them for tomorrow. Healthwatch West Sussex is all about local voices being able to influence the delivery and design of services. Alongside Heathwatch England we will be influential in making a difference for local people. If you have the leadership qualities and skills and the passion for improving health and social care we would like to hear from you. We are seeking someone who has the skills and aptitude to operate at a Board level or the direct experience of having done so. The Board are seeking to appoint a person with senior management experience possibly with particular experience in social enterprise, voluntary sector or research and development. You may have acquired relevant experience (such as leadership and governance) in a range of formal and informal environments and be able to demonstrate a genuine commitment to engaging all sections of the community. This is a voluntary position but expenses will be paid. Applicants must be resident in West Sussex.
