Job Hunting In The Summer

Job hunting in the summer

Yes, the summer is coming and it’s going to be a good one.  That means we are going to feel better in ourselves and motivated to get that job that we’ve been looking for.

How long have you been looking for a job so far, are you one of the unfortunate/fortunate that had their role made redundant last year? Are you doing a job that isn’t your ideal just to earn a living?  Well, you should pat yourself on the back and now start thinking about what you really want to do.  Jobs are starting to become available and we are coming out of the recession.  Get in there now before the students start applying for jobs in September.  This is the time to focus on what you enjoy doing and make some money out of it.  Are you an inside or outside person, can you make some money out of summer?  Do you want to be employed or self employed?  Can you set up a business that you could start off at weekends for some extra money and see if it works?

There is so much support out there for you to use and to help you find out what it is you should be looking for and then keep.  You can start by accessing the free advice from career guidance companies and if that is not for you, have you considered Life Coaching?

Life Coaching was developed in the US in the 90’s and has increased in popularity ever since.  A life coach will do for your mind what a personal trainer does for your body.  After an initial meeting with your coach, which can be done in person, over the phone or using Skype, your coach, will ascertain the areas of your life you are unhappy with, then develop a strategy to improve it.  Natalie Boyce of www.naturallifecoaching.co.uk explained that life coaching is the newest, fastest and most effective way to reassess and rework any area of your life.  The most popular areas covered are career, time, health, relationships and family.

Coaching is not a form of therapy, “Coaching is more goal orientated and about motivation and belief, making someone realise their full potential, “said Natalie “We don’t focus on the roots of problems, but on the solutions.”

Once a life coach has identified your core values through a current situation model, the areas that need to be focussed on are further examined.  Goal orientated tasks are agreed and a life coach will assist you in reaching that end goal over a number of coaching sessions.
At times like these, when professional uncertainty is evident in so many industries, Life Coaching is a viable option for people who are looking to make changes but just don’t know how to go about it.
